Inkdesign Architecture is a contemporary, forward-thinking architectural design practice based in Glasgow, UK.
Established since May 2000, we are committed to providing a creative, efficient and professional service for our clients. We have a pragmatic view towards budget and timescales while maintaining a keen sense of sustainability.
Our clients range from large internationals, to bespoke designers, to private individuals throughout the UK and beyond.
Conceived at the start of the millennium, Maurice Hickey and Lisa Fugaccia had previously worked together prior to taking a sabbatical and travelling around the world. On our return we decided to start up our own business with the idea of collaboration and conversation being our main goal in achieving a design solution to fit our clients’ brief.
With a growing client list including MJM International and a proposed office extension at Clyde Blowers HQ in East Kilbride, in June 2009 long term friend and frequent collaborator, Carlo Guidi joined the practice from GM+AD architects. Inkdesign Architecture Ltd. was formed and a new purpose built studio was built. Our practice job list is varied and continues to be so. This ensures the design process remains individual and is specifically tailored to each client’s needs. Inkdesign’s work spans from small to large scale commissions, encompassing commercial, residential, leisure, urban and community projects.
The practice remains purposefully small to enable positive teamwork but has a group of consultants in various fields so that it is manageable but can adapt to suit the projects undertaken. To aid this interaction within the creative industries, Inkdesign are happy to have moved to a spacious new home at wasps artists’ studios at The Briggait, Glasgow.
Inkdesign believe that, in the current climate, it is important to be flexible and creative in forwarding ideas and opportunities. Collaborative working and flexibility helps produce spaces that are stimulating, appropriate and inspiring to the people who use them.
In keeping with our concept of collaboration and conversation, Inkdesign commence each project with an initial ‘no obligation’ consultation. This aids fluidity in our approach and challenges any preconceptions of the profession. Continually having new design opportunities helps expand the practice knowledge base and promote development from initial idea to fruition. Dynamism and diversity are maintained by this conversation-led approach with clients.
